Nga Pounamu Takaro with Tango

Room 7 students have been enjoying our weekly lessons with Tango. We have been learning lots of new Te Reo and practicing this through fun class games. Check out our photos below:

Nga Pounamu Takaro

Yesterday you child will have bought home a notice for Nga Punamu Takaro.

We have been offered the opportunity for our classes to receive free te reo Māori, Tikanga and Traditional Māori games lessons. Each week the classes will get a 45 minutes session on these things.

Here is some information from the provider:

The programme would involve:

  • Weekly class time 45 minute learning session;
  • Using te reo, karakia, pepeha, whanaungatanga, waiata, haka, and mau rakau etc;
  • Basic nutrition resource will be delivered

The programme would be delivered by Hauora Hit.  We have been delivering Nga Pounamu Takaro programmes in Christchurch schools for a number of years, previously under Positive Directions Trust.  We have an established programme that teaches purakau and te reo Māori through the Maori Traditional games. Our programme provider is Tango.

We would appreciate the return of the permission forms as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Team 3

We made it in the newsletter!

We worked really hard on making our commonwealth games medals in the 3D printer. It took a lot of work because we had to learn how to use a new programme called tinkercad. We are really excited at how they turned out, we are looking forward to what else we might be able to create!

Stan's got a plan!

Over the past week all classes have attended the Stan's got a plan programme.

This helped us learn about what to do in various time when the council may need to enter a State of Emergency.

We learnt that there were many reasons that we might need to enter a state of emergency, and we didn't know about a lot of them!

Looking at what we need to keep in an emergency kit

We were taught it's also a good idea for older kids to have an individual bag ready

Emergency kit supplies

Your child will have bought home a sheet to look at together about family plans and what to include in your emergency kit.
